Practice: Same deal here, I had never been here other than pre-practice. I fished the first and last days of practice on Lake George. The 2nd day I spent on Rodman and the river. The days I spent on George were the most productive. I found some fish spawning and this was the ONLY way I could get a bite!
Day 1: I started in an area I had seen several big fish. Some were on beds and some weren’t. I fished my best stretches and had only 2 small ones I caught on a dropshot. I finally left here about 12:30 with 3 small ones. I went to another area on Lake George. I caught my 4th and 5th keepers in about 5 minutes! This allowed me to look for bigger fish. I caught a couple of decent ones and several more cull fish. I ended up with 11.2 and in 42nd place.
Day 2: I eliminated my starting location from day 1, and went straight to the other area. I caught a few real quick and had a limit by 10 or so. I would troll and push-pole around this area to see the fish without spooking them. I a pair that were a 3 pounder and a 7 pounder. It took me a while to get either of them to bite. The male bit first and I set the hook, pulled a ways, then lost him. This did get the female fired up though. About 5 minutes later she bit. After a short fight the 7.4 beauty was in the boat. About an hour later I caught the male. These were my 2 best fish giving me 14.15 and put me in 18th!
Day 3: Since the 2nd day went well that was where I spent my day again. I did catch a few fish in the morning that were decent keepers. Some of the other good fish I saw from the day before I could not get to bite. I caught several keepers on a variety of baits. I never got any big bites today. I had 10.3 and wound up 28th! After 2 events I am in 19th in the points and leading the Rookie of the Year!
Added Edge: The fish that I caught on the drop shot were on the new Revo Premier Spinning reel. It is a very smooth reel and has an amazing drag system!
